This coming winter 2022, the hotel will host artists, writers, artisans and alternative thinkers in residence who will focus on the various arts of the Karoo Art Hotel, starting with The Art of the Memoir.

At the restaurant Chef Derek Louw, treats visitors to honest Karoo food, with a number of Karoo lamb dishes. With a passion for food the menu also offers fish and vegetarian options. More informal meals are available in the pub and the bakery provides fresh bread and bagels daily.

In the early stages of the renovation project, Rick reflected on the opening of Charles Dickens Tale of Two Cities: ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness…’ Rick and Sue realised that’s how it was as they went through a lot more than they paid for to make bring this hotel back to life. Packtown salutes them for a job well done, and we look forward to seeing this new venture go from strength to strength.
